Estimates & In-Home Consultations — What’s The Difference & Which Do You Need?
Is there a project you’d like to have done on your property? We offer estimates, consultations, and quotes for those at all stages of the planning process. Whether you’re just looking for a rough idea of costs so you can budget for the future or you’re ready to move forward with planning and design, we can help. Here’s a little bit about how we view estimates, consultations, and quotes, so you can determine which best fits with where you are with your planning process.
An estimate is a rough calculation — a ballpark price for work done based on a general overview, not an actual site visit. In other words, an estimate will give you a rough idea of costs for your project, but will not be the most accurate option available. This is a great option if you aren’t sure when or if you’d like to move forward with the project and you just want to know what you’d need to budget for.
If you’d like an estimate, we ask that you fill out the form below, including as much information as you can so we have an accurate idea of the space and the end goal.
Almost done! Send us a quick email at firstname.lastname@example.org and include any pertinent information that you weren’t able to include in the form. Some things you may want to send include photos of the work area, measurements, desired materials, drawings, reports, and other estimates. Sending other estimates actually helps us determine the scope of the work so you can get a more apples-to-apples comparison if you’re receiving multiple estimates.
Once you’ve submitted the information below, you’ll receive a quick phone call (about 15 minutes) from one of our team members, to ensure we understand everything correctly.
Why don’t we offer free in-home estimates?
- Estimates can end up taking up a great deal of time, and as a small specialized company, we need to use that time to better serve our customers.
- We know you’re busy and don’t think you should have to wait around for a site visit, when you’re not yet sure if we’re the right fit or if you’re ready to have the work done.
- If the project or issue can’t be easily explained through this form, on the phone, or in pictures, the work will probably require the assistance of an architect or designer. Knowing this ahead of time allows us to send one of the fantastic architects/designers/engineers we work with to your home for an in-home consultation, without wasting your time on an initial site visit.
A consultation is a site analysis and evaluation of the problem/development of the scope of work. Typically, these involve some help with design considerations, and because consultations are so involved, we do charge for the service. While the fee is non-refundable, the amount will be applied towards the deposit and overall cost of the job.
If you’d like an in-home consultation, we ask that you fill out the form below and send an email to email@example.com that includes any other pertinent information, like photos of the work site, drawings, other estimates, measurements, desired materials, etc. Once we receive everything, we’ll give you a call to quickly discuss the project. Next, we’ll schedule an in-home consultation.
In-home consultations allow us to perform a full site analysis and determine the formal scope of work, so we can be as accurate as possible with pricing, timing, etc. We’ll also offer assistance with material selection and scheduling, and will provide you with a written quote. Once you’ve agreed upon the quote, signed the contract, and provided a deposit, we’ll get the your project on the schedule.
A quote is an offer to do the job at a specified price. Once we’ve performed an in-home consultation, we’ll provide a written quote so you know exactly how much you need to budget for the project.
If you have any questions about our estimates, in-house consultations, or quotes, please feel free to reach out to us at (201) 447-0787. We’re happy to help.
